There is less than a week left to apply for the Entrepregirl contest!

After inspiring more than 200 Bulgarian girls to dare and share their ideas with the world for its fifth edition, Entrepregirl has gone international. Any girl aged 16 to 25, who is not afraid to share her idea can do so by November 25, 2018, through the platform: www.entrepregirlbg.com. The entrepreneurial idea may be related to social, culture, business, digital or any other matters – there are no limitations.

On December 12, the short-listed 10 candidates will present their ideas during a live pitching session before an international jury. The session will be hosted online using the latest virtual communication technology.

A special webinar led by a top expert will discuss key topics as the building of entrepreneurial attitude, effective presentation of ideas, and the golden rules of the entrepreneurial world.

Entrepregirl 2018 – Application is Open

The application for the fifth edition of the Entrepregirl contest is now on. The competition is organized by the Bulgarian Centre of Women in Technology (BCWT) and is aimed at developing entrepreneurship among young girls. For the last four years, Entrepregirl has inspired more than 200 Bulgarian girls to dare and share their ideas with the world.

In 2018, the competition is expanding its scope and for the first time ever it’s open for international contestants. The final pitching session will be hosted online using latest virtual communication technology.

The Entrepregirl award is open for candidates aged 16 to 25. Any girl who has an idea and is not afraid to share it can do so by November 15, 2018 through the platform: www.entrepregirlbg.com. There is no limitation on the field of the entrepreneurial idea – it may be related to social, culture, business, digital or any other matters.

On December 12, the top 10 candidates will present their ideas during an virtual live pitching session before an international jury. How to build an entrepreneurial attitude, how to effectively present ideas, what are the golden rules of the entrepreneurial world – all of this will be debated in a webinar led by a top expert in the field.

CEE Fintech Challenge has just launched

Vestbee, online platform that connects global business angels, VC funds and corporates with startups and scaleups from Central & Eastern Europe in cooperation with CEE Business Angels Network has just launched the first online fintech competition in the region, CEE Fintech Challenge. Applications now open for FoodForward – corporate accelerator in foodtech

Applications are open until July 29th 2018 for the new acceleration program dedicated to innovative projects and startups in the food and retail sector. The program is coordinated by Deloitte, in partnership with Amadori, Cereal Docks and Gruppo Finiper – industrial partners who will work with startups to develop new business of the future – and players in the innovation ecosystem such as Innogest, Digital Magics, Seeds & Chips and Federalimentare Giovani.

Foodforward in brief:

The call: open to Italian and foreign companies established or being set up to innovate in the field of food production and distribution. The innovative trends of reference are, among others: new foods, quality and traceability of food, healty lifestyle, circular economy, new delivery models, smart packaging and precision agriculture

Initial investment: access to €20k in cash contribution and €50k in services, directly invested by the Foodforward partners, in exchange for 6% of your equity

The acceleration program: 15 weeks between January and May 2019 of acceleration in Milan and includes an intense mix of: project development and consolidation, management training, discussion sessions with mentors and experts in the sector and networking with entrepreneurs, managers and investors from both the Deloitte network and the foodtech ecosystem.

The focus of the program will be to stimulate collaborations between corporate and startup in order to accelerate business through the synergies between innovative startups and industry.

Investments: the program ends with the presentation of the 7 startups to investors invited and selected by Deloitte and its partners. Project partners have already confirmed their willingness to make additional investments of up to 1 million euros.

Last call for registration of high performing Bulgarian scaleups for the 4th edition of the ScaleIT annual event

ScaleIT is calling on Bulgarian startups to register for the 4th edition of its annual event that brings together South and South-East Europe’s most high performing startups with global investors and VC Funds. In the past 30 months, ScaleIT alumni raised over $140M in investment, more than 25% of the total capital raised in Italy in the corresponding period (Q4 2015 – Q1 2018).

Notable companies that successfully scaled up as a result of participating in ScaleIT events include: Motork, Bemyeye, Musement, Tok.tv, Shopfully, Cuebiq. Three of the selected startups in last year’s edition, Artemest and Soundreef and HelloHungry.com, closed new funding rounds or strategic M&A in less than 4 months after the event.

Eligible scaleups should register on www.scaleit.biz/apply, by Saturday, 30th June 2018.

Eligibility criteria:

  • achieved a turnover of at least €1 million in the past 12 months or at least 1 million monthly users (in the case of online B2C)
  • YoY growth of around 100%
  • at least 20% of total turnover generated abroad or have a clear and sustainable internationalization strategy

The winners will be shortlisted by 31st August and will go on to participate in the 2 day event, on 17th and 18th October 2018, in Milan, Italy. At the event, scaleups will pitch their business model to the public and have one-to-one meetings with international investors and VC Funds (Series A, B and C funding rounds ranging from €3 million to €30 million).
