Entrepregirl 2018 – Application is Open

The application for the fifth edition of the Entrepregirl contest is now on. The competition is organized by the Bulgarian Centre of Women in Technology (BCWT) and is aimed at developing entrepreneurship among young girls. For the last four years, Entrepregirl has inspired more than 200 Bulgarian girls to dare and share their ideas with the world.

In 2018, the competition is expanding its scope and for the first time ever it’s open for international contestants. The final pitching session will be hosted online using latest virtual communication technology.

The Entrepregirl award is open for candidates aged 16 to 25. Any girl who has an idea and is not afraid to share it can do so by November 15, 2018 through the platform: www.entrepregirlbg.com. There is no limitation on the field of the entrepreneurial idea – it may be related to social, culture, business, digital or any other matters.

On December 12, the top 10 candidates will present their ideas during an virtual live pitching session before an international jury. How to build an entrepreneurial attitude, how to effectively present ideas, what are the golden rules of the entrepreneurial world – all of this will be debated in a webinar led by a top expert in the field.

Share this opportunity with your young friends, colleagues, daughters and granddaughters. Let’s help the girls build entrepreneurial skills, motivate them to achieve their goals from a young age and connect them with international top-level professionals.

CEE Fintech Challenge has just launched

Vestbee, online platform that connects global business angels, VC funds and corporates with startups and scaleups from Central & Eastern Europe in cooperation with CEE Business Angels Network has just launched the first online fintech competition in the region, CEE Fintech Challenge. Applications now open for FoodForward – corporate accelerator in foodtech

Applications are open until July 29th 2018 for the new acceleration program dedicated to innovative projects and startups in the food and retail sector. The program is coordinated by Deloitte, in partnership with Amadori, Cereal Docks and Gruppo Finiper – industrial partners who will work with startups to develop new business of the future – and players in the innovation ecosystem such as Innogest, Digital Magics, Seeds & Chips and Federalimentare Giovani.

Foodforward in brief:

The call: open to Italian and foreign companies established or being set up to innovate in the field of food production and distribution. The innovative trends of reference are, among others: new foods, quality and traceability of food, healty lifestyle, circular economy, new delivery models, smart packaging and precision agriculture

Initial investment: access to €20k in cash contribution and €50k in services, directly invested by the Foodforward partners, in exchange for 6% of your equity

The acceleration program: 15 weeks between January and May 2019 of acceleration in Milan and includes an intense mix of: project development and consolidation, management training, discussion sessions with mentors and experts in the sector and networking with entrepreneurs, managers and investors from both the Deloitte network and the foodtech ecosystem.

The focus of the program will be to stimulate collaborations between corporate and startup in order to accelerate business through the synergies between innovative startups and industry.

Investments: the program ends with the presentation of the 7 startups to investors invited and selected by Deloitte and its partners. Project partners have already confirmed their willingness to make additional investments of up to 1 million euros.

A new hub for tech entrepreneurs is launched in Southeast Europe

Able is proud to present our partners from Start-it.info (www.start-it.info), an online platform that aims at creating digital community of startups and developers across Southeast Europe (SEE) and building sustainable ecosystem for IT professionals interested in latest integrated tech solutions, was officially launched this week.

Start-it.info comes with useful information, know-how and product sources that help startups and developers boost their business, optimize their everyday activity, grow their business in IT sector and gain faster results.

For its start Start-it.info launched a campaign for tech entrepreneurs in SEE for winning free marketing or sales or HR strategy according to their business needs. Every tech entrepreneur from the region has a chance to take the strategy best suits his needs for a chance to win a custom-made strategy by leading experts in the current area. StartUP Next 2014

Some ABLE members had a chance to visit another very interesting and full of amazing speakers event – StartUp Conference NEXT, which happened last weekend – on the 10th and 11th October in Sofia Event Center and it was the 8th in a row that the StartUp Foundation proudly organizes. ‘This year the Conference is focused on stimulating growth’ says Chris Georgiev, a serial entrepreneur and organizer. The Conference was held in English language, many speakers from Bulgaria and other countries were invited. There were about 500 visitors who came to learn how to grow their business and expand into foreign markets, how to differentiate and get out of the limited Bulgarian eco system making business connections with entrepreneurs from all around. Some of the hot topics that were discussed were women in leadership roles and women in entrepreneurship, start-up funding, global reach, design thinking, customer acquisition and retention.

 

Bob Dorf, the father of entrepreneurship, considered to be one of the most influential speakers was invited from Junior Achievement Bulgaria. He is one of the founders of the san startup methodology. His world-renowned bestseller ‘The Start-Up Owner`s Manual’, co-authored with Steve Blank is a must read for every single entrepreneur in the world.

 

The Conference was open by the U.S. Ambassador in Bulgaria Mrs. Marcie Riss. There were a total of 33 speakers from Bulgaria and abroad, some of whom were Devin Hunt, Marvin Liao, Connor Murphy, Rob Fitzpatrick, Jordan Schlipf, Max Gurvits, Tobias Stone, Veneta Andonova, Veneta Stycheva, Luci Montel, Elina Zheleva, Ivelina Manova, Monika Kovachka-Dimitrova and others. There were a total of 4 discussion panels, over 15 personal presentations, a Start Trek discussion platform organized by the Bulgarian accelerator 11 and many networking opportunities.

 

During the time of the conference a new media that will represent the Bulgarian startups to the world – http://startups.bg/ was announced, as well as 2 new competitions: he StartUP Awards, which will take place in December and the third edition of the MobileApp VIVACOM Competition – #newbornideas.
