ABLE took part in the forum “Career in Bulgaria”

The 7th edition of Carrier in Bulgaria forum – the biggest carrier forum for Bulgarians with international experience, has taken place on September 10th 2014.

Each year more than 60 companies and institutions take place while they present job opportunities to candidates with international experience and/or education. Last year the number of the registered candidates which were approved based on their international experience, reached 1250 people.
Apart from its exhibition part, the forum contained a rich seminar program, part of which was Startup Arena – a mini-exhibition of entrepreneurial organizations, which can spread the idea of their activities and which speak with candidates to whom they help with advice for starting their own businesses.
During the Startup Arena there was a huge interest into ABLE. It was represented by three of its members who devoted themselves into explaining the essence of our projects and the possibilities to boost business ideas. Many people recognized ABLE throughout our diverse projects and were happy to meet personally with part of the ABLE team.

ABLE took part in the youth academy of NYF

ABLE was represented by two of its members in the summer youth academy of the National Youth Forum in Atia from 7th till 11th September, which is taking place for a third time this year. Among the discussed topics were the democracy and its values, lobbying, youth leadership and youth participation in different organizations as a drive for a change. There were two simulation games of elections and debates. After the clean and democratic elections happened, to which one of the ABLE members was an auditor, the other member managed to enter the parliament in second place with a difference from the first place of only one vote.

ABLE Mentor: Reloaded

The second season starts in the beginning of November. Students and Mentors can apply untill October 4th

With the beginning of the new school year the individual mentoring program ABLE Mentor starts again.

Our goal is to build a network of young professionals, ready to share their experience with students from 10th and 11th grade. Every student is appointed a mentor with experience in the field of the student’s interest. During the four months of the program the team of student and mentor work on a business, social or personal development project selected by the student.

The team of ABLE Mentor already has over 20 active members that take care to facilitate the communication between mentors and students and enable the teams by providing useful information and contacts as well as organizing the events of the program.

How to join

If you wish to join the program (as a student or a mentor) register on by October 4th 2014. If you are a mentor also send your CV or resume, and if you are a student – essay on the topic “What do I want to improve/achieve/develop.. and how” between 150 and 300 words(sent to [email protected]).

The official start of the program and the opening event will be on November 2-nd.

During the last season of ABLE Mentor 37 teams of a student and a mentor completed successfully the program. More about their projects read  here (in Bulgarian).

Next on ABLE Mentor

The ABLE Mentor Alumni Network will be established in September. Its goal will be to create a network of the students and mentors that completed the program by far.

ABLE Mentor’s team is aiming at expanding the program outside of Sofia during this school term. Potential cities are Ruse, Stara Zagora, Plovdiv, Kazanlak and Burgas.

ABLE at the forum “We are the ideas 3”

The third edition of the social innovations incubator “We are the ideas” organized by  United Ideas for Bulgaria (UIB), took place in Sofia between 3rd  and 6th of September. In the last day of the event there was a Organizations fair, where many non-governmental and student organizations presented their socially-innovative and entrepreneurial projects. ABLE did not miss the opportunity to participate in the fair for the second time and was represented by Slav Denyakin, Kalina Cherneva and Asen Georgiev. The three promoted among the 150 participants ABLE’s activity as well as the project ABLE Mentor. In this way ABLE supported the event and in the spirit of social entrepreneurship presented our work to increase the social involvement among high school students.
