Leader Talks: Solomon Passy – Negotiations

Solomon Passy is mostly known for his significant role in the Bulgaria – NATO negotiations. In result of his efforts, Bulgaria was invited to join the Alliance. During Passy’s mandate as Minister of Foreign Affairs Bulgaria also concluded the negotiations with the European Union and agreed on the date of accession – January 1, 2007.

On 19th of December Dr. Solomon Passy will give a talk about Negotiations. The ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs will share his personal experience and conclusions about the ability to negotiate successfully.

The talk will be followed by a Q&A session in which ABLE guests will have the opportunity to ask Dr. Passy whether he still drives his famous Trabant car.

Leader Talks: Georgy Ganev – Society of Competition

WHERE: “America For Bulgaria” hall in Sofia University

WHEN: December, 12th/ 19.00h

The famous and one of the most respected Sofia University professor Georgy Ganev will give a special talk about the economic and social aspects of competition. Dr. Georgy Ganev has always been interested in the so called  “Bulgarian ‘Transition (1989 – 2012)” economic phenomenon. He will share his observations and conclusions about this phenomena and how competition actually affected our economy and social behavior.

Georgy Ganev is an economist and is a program director for economic research at the Centre for liberal strategies in Sofia, Bulgaria. Since 2003 he is an assistant professor at Sofia University’s Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. Since 2005 he is Chair of the Governing Council of the Bulgarian Macroeconomics Association. His interests are related to issues of macroeconomics and monetary theory and policy, political economy, transition, development and growth economics, new institutional economics. At the university he teaches the standard courses of introductory macroeconomics, money and banking, as well as a graduate seminar in new institutional economics.
